Instagram trial reels: test a hook on strangers first
A trial reel is shown to people who do not follow you, and only to them, so a new hook gets a cold read before your followers see it. What Instagram does with it afterwards, and how to post one from your assistant.

Every Reel you post normally goes to the people who already follow you, and those are the people least likely to tell you a hook is weak. A trial reel goes the other way: Instagram shows it to people who do not follow you, and only to them, so the first read is a cold one.
What Instagram does with it
You choose at posting time. With automatic sharing, Instagram watches how the trial performs with strangers and shares it with your followers on its own if it does well. With manual sharing, it stays a trial until you share it from the Instagram app. Either way, the followers never see a hook that fell flat.
One limit worth knowing: Instagram offers no way for a tool to graduate a trial, or to ask whether it has graduated. ViewPrinter can post the trial and read how it performed; the sharing step is Instagram’s or yours.
Reels only
A trial is a property of a Reel. If the option is set on a Story, a photo or a carousel, ViewPrinter refuses the post rather than posting it normally, because posting it normally would reach exactly the followers it was meant to hold back from.
Posting one from your assistant
Say it the way you would say anything else: “Post this to Instagram as a trial reel.” The option rides on the post, so a scheduled trial goes out as a trial at the time you chose. On the dashboard, the Trials filter shows your trial reels, and which of them Instagram has since shared with followers, next to their views. Not posting from an assistant yet?
