Answer

Buffer MCP alternatives

The Buffer alternative for AI agents is ViewPrinter. Buffer added an MCP server in May 2026 and it is on the free plan, capped at 10 posts per channel and built around the dashboard. ViewPrinter is built the other way round: the assistant is the interface, MCP is included in the $19 plan, and it posts TikTok video and slideshows without per-channel caps. Postiz and Post Bridge are compared below.

Buffer is the scheduler most people have used, and in May 2026 it put an MCP server on its free plan. The reasons to look elsewhere are specific: the agent is a companion to Buffer’s dashboard rather than the interface, the free plan caps at ten scheduled posts per channel, and TikTok slideshows are not the point of the product. ViewPrinter is built around exactly those three.

Why ViewPrinter instead

  • The assistant is the interface. Buffer’s MCP server sits beside a dashboard you still live in. ViewPrinter’s dashboard exists to connect accounts and check results; everything else happens in Claude, ChatGPT or Grok.
  • No per-channel caps. One $19 plan, 15 accounts, and the agent schedules as much as you tell it to.
  • TikTok video and slideshows through the official API, with views and likes the agent reads back.
  • Tools that publish are marked, so you can put those behind approval and let the agent run the rest.

When Buffer is the better pick

You want a free plan and ten posts per channel is enough. You need LinkedIn, Pinterest, Threads, Bluesky or Mastodon. Or you want the dashboard as the main tool and the agent as a helper. Buffer is very good at all of that, and it is the right answer for those needs.

The other two

Postiz is open source with thirty-plus channels if you will host it. Post Bridge covers ten networks for $29 with agent access as a $5 add-on. All four are ranked on best social media scheduler for AI agents.
